2. Objectives of the Practice:-

1. To Promote Reading Culture – Develop the habit of regular reading among students to enhance knowledge.

2. To Improve Language Skills – Enhance comprehension, writing, reading, and communication skills in Marathi.

3. To Foster a Love for Literature – Introduce students to quality literature and cultivate an interest in reading.

4. To Enhance Creativity – Encourage critical thinking, imagination, and writing skills through reading.

3. The Context:-

The "Reading Movement" is an initiative by the Marathi Department aimed at fostering a strong reading culture among students. In today's digital age, where screen-based activities dominate, the habit of reading books, newspapers, and literary works is gradually declining. To address this challenge, the department has undertaken this best practice to rekindle interest in reading and develop linguistic and cognitive skills.

The primary objective of this movement is to encourage students to read regularly and enhance their comprehension, writing, and communication abilities in Marathi. Through this initiative, students are introduced to various literary genres, including novels, poetry, essays, and folk literature, to cultivate a love for reading.
